Divine World Calendar is a volunteer development of Youth and Liturgy enthusiasts.
The purpose of this calendar is to allow the faithful of the UGCC and others to pray the Liturgy of the Church according to the tradition of the Byzantine rite.
The basis is the official liturgical calendar of the UGCC, which annually prepares for the whole church the Patriarchal Liturgical Commission of the UGCC.
The texts of the Divine Liturgy follow the texts of the "Come Worship" prayer book, which is the most used by the UGCC faithful.
The texts of liturgical services of the daily circle were concluded according to the liturgical editions of Rev. Vasiliyan, namely: Prayer Book 1990. and additionally issued to him by the Daily Post and Flower Trios. The developers deliberately followed the often erroneous editions of O. Vasiliyan's editions of the texts in the services of the daily circle, which could disagree with the official charter of the Patriarchal Liturgical Commission, since their desire was to make it possible to pray jointly to the faithful, who would use paper editions and texts.
There are no additional texts in the Prayer Book of Vasilyan, but are provided for in the charter, such as the canons of Sundays and holidays supplemented with the octopus of M. Kobrin and the Kiev Mines of 1927. The texts of the canons of the fasting triode follow the translation of the Zavitnevich triode, the canons of the Floral Triode from the editions of the UOC KP.
This will be the case until the UGCC has its own liturgical translations of these texts.
As it is difficult to pray in his honor without knowing the history of the holy day, the calendar provides brief extracts from the lives of the saints, as well as excerpts from the works of the Fathers of the Church collected by Father Julian Katri in his book "Pearls of the Oriental Fathers".
The compilers of the calendar try to make the prayer of the church accessible to you consciously and responsibly. At the same time, they understand that only the Lord God is sinless, so they apologize for the variety of errors and inconsistencies in the calendar.
You can help the project:
- by speaking to a developer cohort
- by supporting the project financially
- by supporting your project with your holy prayers
"But when anyone wants to argue, we do not have such a custom, neither does the Church of God" (1 Cor. 11:16).
